Very Urgent appeal for supporting a lifesaving surgical procedure
for a senior citizen from Vythiri, Wayanad District.
I have been associated with the Hume Centre for Ecology and Wildlife Biology in
Wayanad since 2018 as an honorary adviser. Among several humanitarian activities,
Hume has developed a district level weather forecasting and disaster warning system
that is now being replicated in 8 other districts in Kerala and in some locations in other states.
Ranjini AR, a young woman from Vythiri, holding an MSc in Geography has been leading
and coordinating the Climate programme at Hume over the last 3 years. She comes from
an economically stressed family background.
Recently her father Shri Ramachandran K. aged 67 has been diagnosed with a serious
heart problem where the only solution is a Trans Aortic Valve Replacement.
Shri Ramachandran is being admitted at the Medical College Hospital Calicut tomorrow
9th June and the surgery is scheduled for Thursday 11th June.
The cost of the Valve Replacement unit is estimated at Rs 10 Lakhs.
We have received donations from well-wishers amounting to Rs 4,87,991.02 so far.
The remainder of Rs 5 Lakhs needs to be raised by Wednesday, 10th June
for the surgery to go forward.
Donations may kindly be sent to Renjini’s WA number
8078039635 for immediate access to the funds.
We look to your compassionate concern to help us find a way to save this person’s life.
With best wishes,
Gopalan Balagopal IAS (Retd).
Kalpetta, Wayanad.
